Since taking over for Vince Dooley on July 1, 2004, Damon Evans has presided over a thriving department. Most notably, Georgia was recognized in 2005 as the most profitable athletic department in the country thanks to revenues that outpaced expenses by $23.9 million.
While Evans has yet to make a major hire as the Bulldogs' athletic director, he helped reach a new deal that is expected to keep football coach Mark Richt at the school for another eight years at more than $2 million per year.
Evans currently makes $330,000 per year. Any significant raise will put Evans ahead of his former boss on the pay scale. Dooley made $333,000 annually in his final year.
