When In Rome

On Sunday, Josh Morris hit his 46th career home run, the most by any Georgia Bulldog. Did he hit another homer on Tuesday vs Kennesaw State?... no. But the Cartersville native did go 2-for-4 with 2 doubles, a run scored, a rbi and a stolen base. The rbi makes 169 for his career, which is 2nd all-time behind Roger Miller's 226. Even though the Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead after 2, they had to hold on to defeat the Owls 8-7. The win was the Dawgs 12th in a row and after the game Josh talked to me.

Dave McMahon -- After you led 7-0, Georgia had to hold on to 8-7 win... they made it close didn't they?

Josh Morris -- They sure did. They are capable of making a comeback like that. We took an early lead, but give them credit for coming back, but we held on.

DM -- This game was played in Rome, Georgia... is this the closest game you have played from your hometown?

JM -- Either this game, or the game we played vs Georgia State in Marietta.

DM -- How many friends and family members did you have here?

JM -- A lot. I think I had around 40.

DM -- Last year former teammates Will Startup and Clint Sammons played for the Rome Braves, did you ever come here to see them play?

JM -- I did come up last year. I saw Clint catch, but I did not see Will pitch. Clint did a good job.

DM -- You finally hit your 46th career home run... how glad are you to get that out of the way?

JM -- Very glad. I would be lying if I told you I didn't think of it every now and then. It is hard when everyone mentions it to you everyday.

DM -- You hit the ball real hard a few times today... did you think you hit number 47?

JM -- No, I knew they would be doubles if they fell in.

DM -- The team has won 12 in a row, what is the most amount of wins in a row you have been a part of?

JM -- In high school when I played for Cartersville I think we won 30 in a row.

DM -- Starting Thursday, Georgia faces Kentucky in a series which can decide the SEC East... this isn't the same Kentucky though?

JM -- No. They are really good. It's kind of funny that Kentucky and Florida totally flipped in the standings. It is going to be a good series.

DM -- Thank you for your time and good luck vs Kentucky.
