Heading to Hoover

Over the last 6 seasons, the Georgia Bulldogs reached the SEC Tournament 4 times. Last year was one of those years they did not qualify for the tournament. That did not go too well for the team. One of those players that were very upset was Senior outfielder Kyle Keen. Last year Keen led the Bulldogs with a .320 average, this year he has been battling injuries and he has struggled, but he is ready to contribute. Wednesday it all begins as the Dawgs face Vandy and Kyle talks to me about it.

Dave McMahon -- The regular season is done, now it's the postseason, there are no weak teams left, but that's ok with you?

Kyle Keen -- First of all, the SEC doesn't have weak teams, but I think our team does better against better teams. We have a lot of confidence now. It all started when we beat Georgia Tech, we feel we can take anybody.

DM -- Last year the team did not qualify for the SEC Tournament, how much did that hurt?

KK -- It hurt a lot. Last year we missed qualifying by a half game. Getting back here was definately a goal for us.

DM -- Explain the atmosphere at the SEC Championships... at the Hoover Met?

KK -- It is incredible. It is notch below the College World Series. Everything is great except how hot it is. But everything is first class.

DM -- This has been a tough year for you individually... hasn't it?

KK -- I have had a strained muscle in my back almost all year. I think I hurt it even more when I tried to come back too soon. I developed some bad swinging habits when I tried to overcompensate. I think I am at 100% now and I am close to getting my old swing back.

DM -- But, coming back is not so easy. This is a tough lineup to crack, especially in the outfield.

KK -- Right. I just have to find places and then go out there and contribute.

DM -- Georgia's first opponent is Vanderbilt, tell me about them.

KK -- They have always had tough pitching. They can definately score, but it's there pitching which is there strength.

DM -- Thank you and good luck the rest of the way.
