The Georgia Men's Tennis team was defeated on Tuesday by Pepperdine in the finals of the NCAA Tournament. Georgia is now 4-7 in NCAA final appearances. The last time Georgia won the NCAA Championship was 2001. The Bulldogs finished this season 30-1 and as head coach Manuel Diaz explains, the Dawgs had a very good season.

Dave McMahon -- Even with the loss in the finals, this was an incredible season?

Manuel Diaz -- Yes it was. We had a great season. We achieved so much. Of course we are disappointed but I told the team we have to hold our heads up high. We worked hard all year and won the Indoor title, SEC regular season, SEC Tournament and got through the NCAA Tournament without one our better players.

DM -- One of the team's strengths all year was your doubles play, but they struggled in the NCAA Tournament... what happened?

MD -- The #1 doubles team struggled. We had a hard time holding our serve. There were a lot of good doubles teams in the tournament.

DM -- What happened in singles?

MD -- It was a combination of a lot of things. Pepperdine played real well and we seemed a little tired. The night before we finished a very tough match vs Baylor and we didn't get a whole lot of rest after that.

DM -- You return a lot of players including your two top players and have a good incoming class... next year is going to be good as well...

MD -- I am very excited about next year's team. It should as good as this year's team.

DM -- You still have the singles and doubles competition this year, but how soon do you think about next year?

MD -- We start right away. We as a team look through and evaluate everything and reset our goals.

DM -- Thank you for your time.
