More on Georgia vs Vanderbilt (again)

The Georgia Bulldogs have been on fire lately. For the 2nd straight game they won by the score of 16-10. This time it was vs South Carolina. I'm not complaining but they finally found the long ball as both Joey Side and Gordon Beckham went yard. Now Georgia has to face Vanderbilt and 11:00 am et and if they win they will face them again at 6:00 pm et. I say, let's do it.

Georgia's record is now 40-18. That's the 2nd time in which a David Perno led team has won 40 games in a season. The other being in 2004 when the team went 45-23 and advanced to the College World Series. So Perno has 2 40-win seasons in 5 seasons. Ron Polk only had 1 for Georgia. Steve Webber had 2, but he coached here 16 seasons.

The 32 runs in back-to-back games is a lot. But did you know, Georgia scored 52 runs in back-to-back games in 1977. Georgia defeated Davidson 22-3 in a game and followed it up with a 30-7 win over Berry.

The most runs the Bulldogs have had in back-to-back SEC Tournament games in one year was 31 runs back in 1989. The Dawgs defeated Mississippi State 15-6 and then beat the Gators 16-1.

You know, the Gators didn't qualify this year for the SEC Tournament. That's pretty funny.

The last time, Georgia advanced to the College World Series was 2004. During the SEC Tournament that year, the Bulldogs scored just 1 run in 3 games.

Basically everyone on the team is now hitting well. The leader so far has been Jonathan Wyatt with 8 hits, Jason Jacobs has 7, followed by Gordon Beckham and Matthew Dunn with 6. Jacobs also leads the way with 8 runs scored, while Jacobs and Beckham top the Dawgs with 6 runs batted in.

Will somebody tell Josh Morris that he needs a rbi. He leads the team with 59 rbi, but has 0 in the 3 tournament games so far. He does have 5 hits and 4 runs scored so I am not complaining.

Georgia has scored in every individual inning so far in the tournament with the most coming in the 5th inning. Georgia has 10 runs scored in 3 days during that frame. The Bulldogs have also tallied 8 in the 4th and 6 in the 3rd.

Georgia still needs a few more wins to win their first SEC Tournament, so they can't stop. Let's hope they continue and keep the trend in the following weeks when the Dawgs play in the NCAA Tournament.
