Sleeper ATH on loaded team to camp at GA

Arguably the top athlete on a loaded Stephenson team is Israel Route. Route does it all for the Jaguars, and he is coming in under the radar compared to some of his more heralded teammates.

Profile 2003 - Israel Route (ATH)

Israel Route, better known as "Izzy" to his coaches and teammates, is one of the best athletes on a Stephenson team that is loaded with talent. While teammates like Kregg Lumpkin, Reggie Ball, and TJ Gartrell get more of the headlines, it's Izzy that holds them all together. "I'll tell you what," said Head Coach Ron Gartrell. "Izzy may be the best overall athlete on this team. He's going to be the steal of this class. If something were to happen to Kregg, we could put him back there and get a 1,000 yard rusher. He's also the emergency quarterback. I've had several college coaches see him and come over and say 'Coach, who is THAT?!' Route is the real deal."

Route teamed with Gartrell last year to form a very good 1-2 punch at the wide receiver position, and those 2 are back again. Thinking of stacking the line of scrimmage to stop 5 star RB Kregg Lumpkin? Better think again. Route backed up Georgia signee Demario Minter at corner last year, but will see more time on defense this year as well. While he can play on either side of the ball, he looks to be a wide receiver in college.

"I went to the Auburn passing camp with our team," said Route. "I'm going to the Georgia camp this weekend as well. I think that's it for the camps that I'm going to this summer. I don't have any offers yet, but my favorite schools right now are West Virginia, Tulane, North Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, and Georgia Tech."
