A 4-star Wide Receiver talks recruiting

Alphonso Bryant is one of the top receivers in the South. The speedster from Homestead, Florida has schools all over the nation interested in him. He caught 14 passes last year, but should have a lot more in 2006. Earlier today he had a chance to talk to me.

Dave McMahon -- What are your top schools that you are interested in?

Alphonso Bryant -- I like Miami, Florida State, Arizona State, Georgia, Florida, LSU, South Carolina, Clemson and some others.

DM -- Are they all recruiting you as a wide receiver?

AB -- They are all recruiting me as a receiver except for Central Florida who likes me a defensive back.

DM -- Who is recruiting you at Georgia?

AB -- Coach Martinez.

DM -- Have you ever talked to Coach Richt?

AB -- Not yet.

DM -- Have you been to Athens?

AB -- No, but I will probably visit them.

DM -- Who are your favorite wide receivers?

AB -- I like Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, Marvin Harrison and Jerry Rice.

DM -- What other sports do you play?

AB -- I play center and forward for my basketball team.

DM -- What would you like your major to be once you go to college?

AB -- I am thinking about business.

DM -- What do you look for in a school?

AB -- Getting along with the coaches, the location, early playing time... There are a lot of things.

DM -- Do you have a timetable on when you will make your decision?

AB -- Probably after the season.

DM -- Thank you and good luck on your decision.
