Richard Cook an explosive defensive end

Explosive, quick, and interested in 5 southern schools.

What makes this prospect so sought after?

"I think that it is my size and my speed."

Cook also describes himself and "pretty explosive, quick, and fast and sort of strong".

Cook is interested in several schools, but named Georgia, Maryland, Florida, FSU, and Auburn as his top five.

Cook's cousin, Antonio Mercier, signed with Georgia in 2002. Cook mentioned that he has been to Athens several times with Mercier and said that Georgia Coach Brian Van Gorder is recruiting him for the University of Georgia.

When asked, "does your cousin being at Georgia make you want to go to school there?" Cook responded, "sort of. Because he would really always know what is going on."

Cook said that he would make his final decision after he has visited all five schools mentioned above.

"I just want to see what it is really like (at all of the schools). I have been to Georgia several times with my cousin but it will be a different story because they can really talk with you on visits."

Cook also explained, "I have always really kind of liked Maryland. And Maryland just wins." And that he likes programs that do just that. It is no wonder that he has Auburn, Florida, and Florida State on his list of favorites as well as the Terps and Dawgs.

Cook did not indicate that he had a leader among the 5 schools that he likes. Cook has not yet taken the SAT but indicated that his grades are in good shape.
