Video Profile 2003 - Whitney Lewis (WR)
Whitney Lewis' name must be mentioned when talking about the top wide receivers in the country. He is looking at several schools in the south including Georgia, Florida State, and Miami.
On film, one of the aspects of Lewis' game is that he is always under control. One time a reporter asked future Hall of Famer Cris Carter is he ever ran as fast as he could. Carter answered that he did not, because he could not play under control that way. Lewis appears to be the same way on film. He takes his time to set up his blocks in the open field. He runs precise routes, and he can start and stop on a dime. Like Carter, Lewis knows what to do with the ball once it is in his hands. His natural ability lets him play under control and still be the fastest player on the field. His 4.34 forty time at the Nike Camp proved that.
Lewis is also exceptionally strong. It is easy to see why he will be moved to running back this year for departed national player of the year Lorenzo Booker who signed with Florida State in February. He is 6-1 and 210 pounds. He looks like a taller Santana Moss in pads, and Moss was exceptionally strong. Lewis is more than just looks as well, he repped 185 22 times at the Nike Camp, better than many linemen.
Lewis is simply an outstanding prospect, follow the link and see for yourself.
