2006 Fall Camp: Day Three News and Notes

ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's fall camp.

LINEBACKER CHANGE: Senior Danny Verdun Wheeler may be shedding his super-sub status at linebacker. In the first three fall practices, Verdun Wheeler has worked as the starter on the strongside.

Former starting strongside linebacker Brandon Miller worked Monday on the weakside behind starter Tony Taylor, linebackers coach John Jancek said.

"Brandon looked pretty good today at (weakside) so that was very promising," Jancek said. "We're just rotating guys through trying to get reps."

THIS AND THAT: Redshirt freshman safety Antavious Coates injured his left knee during a non-contact drill. "I have no idea how badly," Richt said. Coates missed all of 2005 after surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. … Georgia's quarterback depth chart won't change until at least the first scrimmage, which is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Richt said. "We're making mental notes daily," Richt said. … After two good days, Richt was not pleased with Monday's practice. "When you're dealing with a bunch of brand new guys and trying to get them work, it looks a little like a Chinese fire drill," he said.
