A Learning Experience

Demarcus Dobbs was rated the 11th best defensive end prospect last season. That was then, this is now. Dobbs has the benefit of not only learning under Coach Fabris, but he is also learning by watching possibly the best combo of defensive ends in the nation. One thing Demarcus doesn't mind doing is learning and today I had a chance to talk to him and this is what he said.

Dave McMahon -- How has practice been so far?

Demarcus Dobbs -- It has been good. I am learning a lot. There is so much to learn.

DM -- So, it's a lot more intense than high school...

DD -- A lot more. You can get away with a lot of things in high school, but not here. There a so many things I need to learn, such as proper technique. I am also learning a new position. I played mostly linebacker and tight end in high school.

DM -- What do you weigh now?

DD -- I am at 260 pounds.

DM -- Is this the weight that the coaches want you at?

DD -- Yes. Somewhere between 260 and 263. As long as I don't lose my speed.

DM -- Have the coaches talked to you about redshirting?

DD -- No. I just go out there everyday as I was playing. I am learning a new position so I might redshirt, but I will be ready in case I don't.

DM -- What is Coach Fabris like?

DD -- He is a pretty intense coach. He loves to teach. He really makes us work hard.

DM -- What can you learn from Quentin Moses and Charles Johnson?

DD -- I learn a lot, from the best way to lineup so I get a better jump and I learn the best angles to get to the quarterback. Off the field those guys are great, too. They are so humble and they are so willing to help.

DM -- Who are some of your favorite defensive linemen in the pros?

DD -- I am a Colts fan so I love watching Dwight Freeney. He is so explosive.
DM -- Being from Savannah, have you ever ran into UGA?

DD -- No, but I look forward seeing him during picture day.

DM -- Thank you for your time and answers.
