2006 Fall Camp: Day Six News and Notes

ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's 2006 Fall Camp.

FORGOTTEN MEN: While most fans feel great about Georgia's kicking game thanks to punter Gordon Ely-Kelso and place-kicker Brandon Coutu, Richt has some concerns about two positions fans rarely think of – long snapper and holder.

The Bulldogs are auditioning three players at each spot. Walk-on Bo Fowler emerged from spring practice as the top long-snapper, but he is now in a three-way tie with fellow walk-ons Jeff Henson and Ben Boyd, assistant coach David Johnson said.

Ely-Kelso, Brian Mimbs and Rowdy Francis are even in the battle for holder, Johnson said.

Coutu will get the biggest vote in the holder competition, Johnson said.

PRACTICE REPORT: Richt was pleased overall with his team's effort in the first day of full contact. He singled out running back Danny Ware for Ware's running in an inside drill. In the afternoon practice, Joe Tereshinski capped a one-minute drill with a short touchdown pass to Mohamed Massaquoi on the first-team offense, Richt said.
