2006 Fall Camp: Day 16 News and Notes

ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's 16th day of fall camp.

ONE MORE SCRIMMAGE: Georgia will hold its final scrimmage of the preseason this afternoon, but it seems unlikely the quarterback depth chart will change.

Although Coach Mark Richt said Wednesday, "we're always evaluating," second-team quarterback Joe Cox said he's taking "pretty much all of" of the second-team quarterback snaps in practice. As of Wednesday evening, Richt hadn't determined which quarterbacks would play with which team today, he said.

Georgia's last scrimmage traditionally is a practice game, in which the team works on its offense and defense but also walks through its pregame and halftime routines.

INJURY UPDATE: Offensive guard Chester Adams missed Wednesday's practice due to illness. Adams was evaluated by doctors but is expected to be back on the field today, according to a school spokesman.

Backup fullback Jason Johnson limped off the field under his own power late in practice with a left ankle injury.

THIS AND THAT: Either Mikey Henderson or Thomas Brown will be the Bulldogs' starting punt returner, Richt said Thursday. … Tight ends coach David Johnson has a new favorite Georgia player. His son Andrew has joined the Bulldogs as a scout teamer. … Georgia expects to name its holder and snapper today or Saturday.
