Class of 05' Update: C.J. Byrd

C.J. Byrd wowed college coaches and recruiting analysts when he was at North Augusta High School. After scintillating audiences in the Palmetto State Byrd decided to cross the border and play for the Georgia Bulldogs. Inside scopes out how the class of 2005 star is faring this season in Athens.

Over the years a lot of in-state talent has left the Palmetto State to play college football elsewhere. The trend hasn't changed in recent years as Georgia has multiple former South Carolina Mr. Football award winners on their roster.

Today we focus on 2005 Mr. Football award winner safety C.J. Byrd of North Augusta High. During his final two years Byrd was one of the most heavily recruited players ever in the state of South Carolina. His punishing tackles and playmaking ability had a ton of major programs in the country making him a high priority.

On the season Byrd has 2 solo tackles and touchdown in which he recovered a punt block by the other former SC Mr. Football on the team, Prince Miller. Sitting out last year Byrd was able to mature and gain a better knowledge of the Georgia defensive scheme and appears to be on the right track of being yet another Bulldog standout defensively.

-Former Orangeburg Wilkinson standout CB Tim Jennings played for the Georgia Bulldogs and was selected in the NFL draft this past season by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2nd round with the 62nd overall pick.
