Today we focus on 2005 Mr. Football award winner safety C.J. Byrd of North Augusta High. During his final two years Byrd was one of the most heavily recruited players ever in the state of South Carolina. His punishing tackles and playmaking ability had a ton of major programs in the country making him a high priority.
On the season Byrd has 2 solo tackles and touchdown in which he recovered a punt block by the other former SC Mr. Football on the team, Prince Miller. Sitting out last year Byrd was able to mature and gain a better knowledge of the Georgia defensive scheme and appears to be on the right track of being yet another Bulldog standout defensively.
Former Byrnes standout Prince Miller (#23) blocks the UAB punt while former North Augusta star C.J. Byrd prepares to scoop the block and return it for a touchdown.
