Lumpkin now the starter at RB

ATHENS – After weeks of speculation, Georgia's running back depth chart finally changed Monday.

Junior Kregg Lumpkin, who has rushed 35 times for 168 yards (4.8 yards per carry) this season, was named the starter, pushing Thomas Brown to the second team.

"Of course nobody likes to get demoted, but I'm happy for Kregg," Brown said. "He's been working hard, he deserves it. I'm just going to keep working."

Brown has rushed 39 times for 114 yards (2.9 yards per carry).

"Everybody goes through a slump every now and then in their career," he said. "I'm going to keep working and try to figure how to get out of it. I'm not going to put it on anybody else. I'm going to take the blame for it."

Danny Ware remains the Bulldogs' leading rusher with 177 yards on 29 carries (6.1 yards per carry), but he became the first Georgia running back to fumble this year and he was still on the third team Monday.
