Ole Miss Week: Wednesday Practice Notes

ATHENS - Tenth-ranked Georgia conducted a two-hour workout Wednesday in preparation for its upcoming Southeastern Conference clash with Ole Miss.

The Bulldogs (4-0, 1-0 SEC) enjoyed a solid practice outside in ideal weather conditions, something that has eluded the team during their recent midweek workouts.

Today was one of the better Wednesdays of the year," said Georgia coach Mark Richt. "We've had to go inside a few times and just walk around the last few Wednesdays, but today everybody was running hard outside, and it was nice."

Georgia's running backs continue to perform well, and this Saturday, junior tailback Kregg Lumpkin will get an opportunity to start.

"Kregg's a quiet guy, a hard worker who just goes about his business," said Richt. "All our running backs have a great attitude. They are fun to watch because they know what they're doing, and they take pride in it."

Richt also mentioned that senior linebacker Jarvis Jackson continues to practice and play while dealing with plantar fasciitis, a painful condition in the heel of the foot.

"Jarvis is not interested in not playing, and it's not going to get better without rest," said Richt. "He is just going to suck it up and play."

Georgia plays 11 games in a row before an off week in mid-November.
