No. 1 Ranked DB Prospect to Visit Auburn

One of the nation's top prospects plans to take an official visit to the Auburn campus.

Fairburn,'s No. 1 rated cornerback, Eric Berry (6-0, 194, 4.35), from Creekside High School continues to deny a leader, but says he favors Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn, USC and Ohio State.

"They all contact me regularly and have offered me scholarships," he says. "I did take an unofficial visit to Tennessee a few weeks ago for their game against Florida, and I am going to take another to their game against Georgia this Saturday. And they do call me every Friday before my game.

"Auburn calls me every Tuesday night, and USC calls me every Monday night. I'm not sure yet when I will take an official visit to Tennessee or to any of the other schools, except for Auburn.

"I have the first of my official visits scheduled with Auburn on October 20, and will see a game while there. My mom may go with me, but my dad will stay behind to coach my little twin brothers' team.

Eric Berry is shown running the fastest 40-yard dash time at the Combine in Atlanta earlier this year.

"My dad (Tennessee running back James Berry) tries to pretty much stay out of it, even though there have been reports that he is trying to influence me. He just mostly tells me what to look for--like are the coaches genuine? I mostly talk to my mom about what's happening (with the recruiting process). But I will definitely make my own decision," Berry insists.

"The social life is very important to me so an important factor in my decision is if I will be taken care of and be able to function on campus if I get injured," he adds. "I've heard that a lot of people lose their scholarships. I would like some kind of guarantee that I would still keep my scholarship."

Partial senior season (5-0) stats: 1,100 total yards/15 touchdowns/1 interception

Berry reports a 3.2 core GPA and a 970 SAT.
