Center Stage

Nick Jones has been the leader of the offensive line on and off the field. Several times he has been named the games' captain. He has done everything the coaches have asked him to do and more. I talked to him earlier today to discuss the past, present and future and this is what he said.

Dave McMahon -- Overall this is not where you want the Georgia offense to be, but you made some strides last Saturday, didn't you?

Nick Jones -- We did better on Saturday, but we have to get even better. We are going in the right direction.

DM -- The 2nd half vs Tennessee must have been very frustrating...

NJ -- They batted a ball here, intercepted the ball there. It was very hard to gain momentum. They took control.

DM -- Being one of the leaders, do you tell the team... let's move on?

NJ -- I told them to learn from it. There is something you can always learn. We have a long way to go.

DM -- Vanderbilt is usually pretty strong on defense, what can you tell me about them?

NJ -- They are tough. They have taken many teams down to the wire. They are physical. I think they are 3rd in the SEC in pass defense. They are tough.
DM -- Is it tough for a center to catch a groove with a quarterback... does the rotation bother you at all?

NJ -- No. I have practiced with all of them. It doesn't matter.

DM -- Which do you prefer run blocking or pass protecting?

NJ -- Run blocking. Nothing against pass protecting, but I love run blocking.

DM -- Thank you for your time and answers.
