Vanderbilt Week: Tuesday Practice Report

ATHENS - Georgia's No. 16-ranked Bulldogs (5-1, 2-1) practiced for two and a half hours in full pads on Tuesday afternoon to prepare for their SEC date with Vanderbilt (2-4, 0-3 SEC) this Saturday afternoon at Sanford Stadium.

"We had a solid day or work today," head coach Mark Richt said following the workout. "We got after it pretty good out there. We tackled and went full speed in our inside drill. We're trying to get better there. We're going to need to get better."

Richt held his weekly press session with the media earlier in the day to discuss the match-up Commodores.

³We are playing a very good football team who could easily be 5-1 right now," Richt said. "The thing that scares you after watching what Arkansas did to Auburn is that Vanderbilt played Arkansas to a 19-21 ballgame that Vanderbilt could have easily won. They are playing outstanding football right now. What strikes you about them is that they are extremely well coached and very physical. Vanderbilt is No. 2 in the league in rushing behind Arkansas.²

Richt also addressed the quarterback situation, where Georgia has started a different player in each of the last three games.

"I think we could win with Joe Tereshinski, Matthew Stafford or Joe Cox," Richt said. "The point is that it isn¹t just about the quarterbacks. Everyone around them has to play well. You have to be good on defense, play good special teams, block well, provide space and time for your backs and your receivers have to make plays. It is not a one-man show. Joe T. will start for us. I do want Matthew to play though. I want to get him in there. I would say it is likely he will play in the first half.²
