Off Week: Tuesday News and Notes

ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's fall practices.

Notable: Head coach Mark Richt praised the effort of his assistants on Sunday, which was the Bulldog coaches first day off since August. "We see a lot of each other," he said. "We see a lot more of each other than we do our families this time of year. It can be a grind on everybody's personality, but I'm real pleased with how everybody has stayed professional and stayed united through all those things. We've not had an issue all year in that regard, and that's hard to do. We've all been in this boat together kind of thing. No one has pointed a finger at anybody else." …

Another group that has heard some grumbling this year also got a pat on the back. Georgia's offensive line cleared the way for 227 rushing yards and didn't give up a sack. On top of that, the Bulldogs had a 14-play drive that lasted 9:37 in the fourth quarter and sealed the outcome. … Saturday's win did little to impress Associated Press voters. The Bulldogs didn't get back in the Top 25 and only received three points in the voting, which means three voters put them No. 25 or one put them No. 22. …

"Seven hundred is a landmark victory regardless of who it is, but to do it at Auburn against a top five team is pretty awesome," Richt said.

Quotable: "It's just like a big weight lifted off your shoulders. It's been a down year for us and to get a big win over a good team like Auburn felt good, man. I said all along if we just don't kill ourselves and everybody plays together, we can be a good football team, man. Today we really clicked on all cylinders." – center Nick Jone

Injuries: Richt thinks running backs Kregg Lumpkin (ankle) and Danny Ware (ankle and knee) will be back for the Georgia Tech game, but he admits he's more optimistic about Lumpkin. "I can't sit here and say they'll both be ready for the game," he said.
