Three is the Magic Number

Senior guard Cori Chambers already holds the record for most 3-pointers in a season when she netted 78 last season. Entering the season she needed 56 more to tie Kedra Holland-Corn's team record for most in a career. So far in her first 2 games this season she has hit 9. On Wednesday she led the Lady Bulldogs with 22 points in a 89-35 win over NC A&T. After the game I talked to her.

Dave McMahon -- This game was a little easier than the Rutgers, but how would you say you played?

Cori Chambers -- Games like this are sometimes tough. You have to focus a lot more. You can't play up for a team one day and down for a team one day. You always have to play your game. We have to play Georgia's game.

DM -- You scored 22 points, Megan Darrah scored 20 and there were 3 more girls scoring in double-figures, is this want you have to do without your star Tasha Humphrey?

CC -- When we all score it puts less pressure on all of us. Basketball is a team sport and you have to play as a team.

DM -- You are within reach of the career 3-point record, do you think about that?

CC -- No, not really. I think about winning. I'd rather not get the record and win a national championship then get it and not.

DM -- Have Kedra Holland-Corn, the current record holder talked to you about the record?

CC -- No, not yet.

DM -- How much do you practice the 3-point shot?

CC -- Everyday in practice. What I did improve a lot on is my range.

DM -- Without Tasha, are you being more of a leader on the team?

CC -- We all are.

DM -- It says in the media guide you are a big eater, how excited are you about Thanksgiving coming up?

CC -- I will be here. Our team is usually away. I have been in Hawaii and California on previous Thanksgivings, but this year my family is coming down.

DM -- Thank you for your time and answers.
