ATHENS - Josh Kendall takes a look at Georgia's game with South Carolina State.

Georgia (2-1) vs. South Carolina State (0-2)

Time/place: 7:30 p.m./Stegeman Coliseum

Broadcast: 940-AM

About South Carolina State: The SCSU Bulldogs are led by first-year coach Jamal Brown, who was the team's starting center in 1995-96, when the Bulldogs went to the NCAA Tournament. … Senior Brian Mason was a first-team All-MEAC selection last year with 14.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last year. … Senior guard Travis Jones scored 18 last week in a loss to South Florida and was 5-for-9 behind the 3-point line.

About Georgia: The Bulldogs got their first taste of junior college transfer Takais Brown in a big win over Valdosta State on Saturday, and they liked it. Brown scored 23 points in 19 minutes. … Georgia's 105 points against Valdosta State marked just the second time it has scored more than 100 under Dennis Felton. … Guard Mike Mercer is Georgia's second-leading scorer with 16 points per game.

Scouting report: Georgia could get 100 again tonight against an overmatched SCSU team. The Bulldogs play four of their first five games this year against a Division II team and three Division I-A opponents that finished with an average RPI of 202 last year. These wins will help a rebuilding team build confidence, but they will mean nothing come March.

Up next: Georgia vs. Alabama A&M, Friday, 7:30 p.m., Athens; South Carolina vs. Jacksonville, Saturday, 6 p.m., Jacksonville, Fla.
