Tech Week: Tuesday News and Notes

ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's fall practices.

COUTU CONSIDERING IT: Junior place-kicker Brandon Coutu plans to dress out for the Bulldogs' bowl game, he said. That doesn't mean that Coutu, who tore his hamstring Oct. 5, will be kicking, but he could.

"If I have to hold, I'll do it," he said. "Whatever I can do to get on the field."

Coutu, an All-America candidate before his injury, was initially said to be out for the season, but team doctors have held out hope he could kick in the bowl game, he said.

"I don't know if they're just telling me that to make me work harder or not," Coutu said. "I feel very good right now."

DIXSON STARTING: Defensive tackle Dale Dixson will start his last game in Sanford Stadium in a decision that his partly based on performance and partly based on seniority, line coach Rodney Garner said.

"He deserves this opportunity," Garner said. "All my guys play the same (amount) anyway; they rotate."

Dixson will start alongside fellow senior Ray Gant.

INJURY UPDATE: Wide receiver Mario Raley (neck) expects to play, he said. Sophomore linebacker Marcus Washington, who was lost for the season last week due to a LCL injury in his knee, will miss spring practice, he said.
