Tech Week: Thursday Practice Report

ATHENS - University of Georgia head football coach Mark Richt put his team through a two-hour Thanksgiving morning workout at the Woodruff Practice Fields Thursday as preparations continued for Saturday's annual game with Georgia Tech in Athens.

"It was a great morning with great weather and the players had high spirits," said Richt. "It was a day to be thankful for and I want to wish everyone in the Bulldog Nation a very happy Thanksgiving."

Georgia (7-4) enters the game after an off-week and looking to improve its bowl standing. Meanwhile, Tech (9-2) is in the home stretch of one of its most successful seasons having already clinched a berth in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game.

"There are always records, bowls, and conference championships, but this game is about the rivalry,² said Richt. ³It¹s a great rivalry, one of the oldest and most well-known in the country. It's for the championship of the State of Georgia which is enough to have players on both teams motivated. We expect Georgia Tech to be at their best on Saturday.²

Georgia players who live close by were given the opportunity to be with family for the Thanksgiving Day meal and many will bring along teammates as guests for the day.

Georgia will resume preparations Friday morning. Kickoff is set for 3:34 p.m. EST Saturday and the game will be televised nationally by CBS TV.
