Profile 2003 - Jeff Busbee (LB)

While Georgia may be short on outside linebacker prospects this recruiting season, there is no short on players to man the "Mike" spot in the middle. Jeff Busbee (6-1/230/4.7, Houston County HS - Warner Robins, GA) is another outstanding prospect from South Georgia that will throw his hat into the ring for the top MLB spot in Georgia along with players like Des Williams, Danny Verdun, Deonte Burnam, and Jon Abbate.

Busbee's best game last year came against Westside Macon, in which he totaled a staggering 19 solo tackles and 6 assists. It's that type of production that is attracting the interest of several of the top schools in the south. Army has already offered him a scholarship, and others won't be too far behind.

"I like the schools that have good academics and play in the big conferences," said Busbee. "I like Stanford and Vanderbilt, but Stanford may be a bit far away. I'm also looking at Auburn, Georgia, Army, and Georgia Tech, but really I'm wide open right now. I have a friend up at Georgia Tech. Hobie Holiday was a senior when I was a freshman, and he really took me under his wing and taught me a lot about how to play linebacker."

Busbee has led Houston County in tackles the past 2 years, and there's no reason to think he won't do so again this year as a 4th year starter. Busbee is more than a good football player though, he's a success in the classroom as well. He currently has a 4.0 average and a 1,300 SAT score. It's no wonder why he is interested in an education as much as he is a career in football.
