Vance commits to Georgia

ATHENS - Georgia got its second commitment in two days.

"I told Coach Richt last night that I was committed to Georgia," Vince Vance said.

The Bulldogs got another offensive line commitment yesterday from guard Joe Blaes. Both will contribute right away for the Bulldogs. Vance has three years to play three seasons - Blaes has three years to play two seasons.

South Carolina was very high on Vance's list, but the Bulldogs' lack of depth at offensive tackle seemed to be the deciding factor for the GMC product.

"I liked my chances better at Georgia," he said. "They immediately wanted me to step in and start at split tackle. In the end, Georgia seemed like the best place for me."

GMC's final game is this Saturday at 1 PM at the 2006 Golden Isles Bowl in Brunswick. Vance will enroll early this January after spending the last few months at GMC waiting his turn to get to division one football.

"It was hard to come here because I had such high expectations about playing on the division-one level coming out of high school," Vance admitted.

But Vance's days of preparing out of the spotlight are over, and he says he is as pleased as he can be to be a Bulldog now.

"I have always loved Georgia – they were my top team," he said. "I am happy as heck right now."

Georgia's offensive coaching staff is, too.
