About Georgia: Coach Dennis Felton was an assistant at Clemson under Rick Barnes from 1994-'98, during which time the Tigers were 92-64 and three-time NCAA participants. … Sophomore guard Mike Mercer's stats dropped off after a subpar effort against Georgia Tech, but he still leads the team with 17.2 points per game. … The Bulldogs took two full days off for the holiday break before returning to Athens for a night practice on Monday. … The seven-game win streak that was snapped by last week's loss to Georgia Tech tied the longest of the Felton era.
Scouting report: It's been seven years since the Bulldogs visited Littlejohn Coliseum. That trip resulted in a 77-57 loss in the first round of the NIT and the end of the Ron Jirsa era. On this trip, they'll face a Tigers team that is on the second-longest winning streak in school history. Clemson will have an advantage in athleticism in the post, but the Bulldogs have faced a more challenging schedule this year and may benefit from that experience.
