Lady Dawgs Preview: Georgia vs. Florida

ATHENS - Josh Kendall takes a look at the Lady Dawgs' game with Florida.

No. 15 Georgia (12-2) vs. Florida (6-9)

Time/place: 7 p.m./Stegeman Coliseum

Broadcast: CSS television

About Florida: The Gators have the worst record in the SEC this season. They have won just one game on the road, and they are last in the league in scoring margin. … Sophomore guard Sha Brooks leads Florida with 15.3 points per game. Junior guard Depree Bowden and sophomore forward Marshae Dotson share the rebounding burden, combining for 13.4 per game.

About Georgia: Junior forward Tasha Humphrey, whose progress has been thwarted this year by offseason surgery and a five-and-a-half suspension to begin the season, seems to be heating up. Humphrey, an All-America candidate, scored a season-high 27 points as the Lady Bulldogs beat Brown 82-69 on Saturday. … The Lady Bulldogs' offense is ahead of its defense at this point. Georgia is third in the SEC in shooting (48.4 percent) but is just eighth in shooting percentage defense (37.8). … Most troubling for Andy Landers may be that Georgia, despite the return this season of post players Rebecca Rowsey and Angel Robinson, is 11th in the league in rebounding margin.

Scouting report: The Gators are struggling mightily this year, and this will be a good chance for Georgia to finally get one over on Florida. These days it's tough for Bulldog fans to crow much around Gators with Florida's football team preparing to play in the national championship game and the defending national champion men's basketball team heavily favored heading into Saturday's game against the Bulldog men. This team the Lady Bulldogs will play today has lost to two straight to Nebraska and Temple and even lost its exhibition game, to Premier Players, by 16 points.

Up next: Georgia vs. LSU, Sunday, 3 p.m., Baton Rouge, La.; Florida vs. Tennessee, Jan. 11, Gainesville, Fla.
