Say Grace

The Gym Dogs are searching for their 3rd straight NCAA title, but freshman Grace Taylor is searching for her first. On a team loaded with talent, the 5'0" frosh broke into the lineup in bars, beam and on the floor. In her first event she scored a 9.90 on the bars. That score helped Georgia to a 197.375-194.600 win over Stanford. After the meet I talked to Grace about her first ever meet.

Dave McMahon -- Were you nervous at all?

Grave Taylor -- I was nervous. This is the most people I have ever competed in front of. All the people combined might be this big... I am so excited.

DM -- Have you ever seen a gym meet here before?

GT -- I was here last year vs Utah. I also saw Georgia compete in the NCAA's at Auburn.

DM -- Tell me about your events...

GT -- I was excited about my first event on the bars, which I scored well. On the beam I might have been too aggressive and I didn't land my dismount and then you saw what happened on the floor. I will be better.

DM -- What is the deal with your grey and red socks that you wore in between the events?

GT -- You mean my ghetto-fab leg warmers... My coaches back home are European and they wore those back in the 70's and 80's... They usually keep me warm because I get cold easily... Now they are sentimental to me.

DM -- What is the best part about Georgia?

GT -- The team. I mean I blew on the floor tonight and my team picked me up right away. This team is amazing. I have a lot of faith in this team.
