Tigers, K-State Game Not Set, AU Says

Auburn may be playing Kansas State this year, but that potential matchup is not finalized, AU officials said.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn University officials said on Tuesday evening that a report in a Kansas City newspaper that the Tigers will open the 2007 football season with a home game vs. Kansas State is premature.

According to a published report on Tuesday, the Wildcats will open the season Sept. 1st at Auburn in a game being televised by ESPN.

However, Auburn officials told Inside the Auburn Tigers that talks are still in progress on the deal and noted that there is a good chance the game will take place, but also said the deal is not finalized and there is a possibility it won't happen.

Auburn has two openings on its 12-game regular season 2007 schedule. Athletic Director Jay Jacobs said he is hoping to have those slots filled in early February.
