Week 3 pick picks and predictions

Gerald Anthony looks at this week's games and gives us his predictions

Week 3, Hope your Honey-Do's are caught up!

Due to technical difficulties which are being investigated as we speak, my prognostications were vaporized into cyberdust, no doubt the work of subversive elements fearfull that moi will diss their team. And they would be correct, for when the opportunity presents itself I will no doubt rain on many parades this Fall.

First a brief recap of what I thought about last week's games:

Saw the nats covering, they did, as did the Gators, Vols, Ducks, MTSU, and noles, but lost the Buffs and Maryland outright and UGA and Michigan didn't cover.

Season: Straight up: 14-3 At the spread: 11-6

Now then, gotta get better ATS, so let's see what we got for this week's action! The sand method was employed with moderate success last week, the thank you letter from Office Depot for my purchases of poster paper and Elmer's Glue was really sweet.

This week, got some numbers to work with so we're firing up the program on the 'puter, but I still have some sand, glue, and paper left. Trust but Verify, as I always say...

Saturday @ Noon-ESPN Regional (Direct TV CH 773)
West Virginia @ Wisconsin (-11): Badgers off to two wins and hosting the toters of weapons from the hills. Don't agree with the spread, year two of WVA's HC Rodriguez regime poses a potent offensive challenge. Badgers win, but don't cover.

Saturday @ 12:30-Jefferson Pilot (Direct TV CH 774)
Memphis @ Ole Miss (-9): These two hate each other, and thus spirited play is to be expected. Eli can fling it, but so can the Tigers' Danny Wimprine. **Upset Special #1, Memphis stuns Rebs! Tigers play better Defense.**

Saturday @ 1 pm.-NBC
Purdue @ Notre Dame (-6.5): Domers whipped a weakened Terp team last week, the Boilers hung 50 on Illinois State. Boilers lost to the Irish last year, but melikes their Offensive firepower and running...and their Defense better. ***Upset Special #2, Purdue over Irish, NBC weeps.***

Saturday @ 1pm-No listing
La. Tech @ Clemson (-11.5): Rematch of last year's Humanitarian Bowl is kinda fitting I guess. Still not sure if the Tiger's Offense will start clicking, but La. Tech got a bunch hurt in their win over Okla. State. Clemson to cover, say something like 38-21.

Saturday @ 7pm-KBCI (Direct TV CH 773)
Boise State @ Arkansas (-7.5): Don't laugh too loudly, the QB for the Broncos, Ryan Dinwiddie, passed for over 3000 yards and 29 TD's. Hogs starting out with many questions, can their D be as good w/o Thompson? Will there be any Offense? Hogs may be at home, but they will be tested severely...***UPSET OF THE YEAR TO DATE, BSU lays the WAC Attack Smackdown on Nutt!***

Saturday @ 7:45-ESPN
South Carolina (-4.5) @ Virginia: Hoos are young and winless, the Cocks had problems with New Mexico State. The Hoos have nothing to lose, the Cocks have everything to lose. ***UPSET #4, UVA steals one from Lou!***

Saturday @ 7pm-PPV
MTSU @ Tennessee (-22): Blue Raiders scared the heck outta the Tide, but the Vols are different story. Too many points for me to lay, MTSU to cover.

Saturday @ 3:30-ABC
GAME OF THE WEEK #1: Alabama @ Oklahoma (-12.5)
Two of the most storied and tradition laden programs in the Country meeting for the first time in 32 years. Bama holds a 1-0-1 all time record over the Sooners, which will change to all square after tomorrow. I really like the points in this one, but Bama's special teams are frighteningly poor. Sooners are Boomers and cover.

Saturday @ 5:15-CBS (Jill Alert!)
GAME OF THE WEEK #2: Miami @ Florida (-2.5)
The State of Florida has been abuzz for months and now the moment finally arrives. I'm not analyzing this one, since everyone else already has to death. Lizards win, and cover, thus temporarily silencing one of the more arrogant and obnoxious fan bases around.

Good luck with your pickin', hope you're grinnin' when it's all over Saturday night!
