Brand wants to "look around"

Georgia's committed class for 2008 just got a little smaller.

B.J. Brand is no longer committed to Georgia, but the Bulldogs remain at the top of his list. Brand committed to the Dawgs in January, but said he did it too quickly and now wants to think it all over again.

"Georgia is still number one, but he's never really been anywhere else other than there and Florida," Coffee County head coach Jerry Odom said. "He just wanted to look around a little more."

Brand told Mark Richt and Tony Ball, who is recruiting Brand for Georgia, a short time ago, Odom said.

"Coach Richt came in recently and talked with B.J. and said that he understood and that Georgia still wanted him. They handled it with class,"

The sudden reverse was a surprise to Richt, and to Odom, too.

"It kind of surprised to me," Odom admitted. He has a ton of respect for Coach Richt and Georgia and I think he will still end up there."

Brand, a 6-4, 300+ pound offensive guard, has gotten offers of late from Auburn and Florida State. He also holds offers from Georgia, NC State, LSU and South Carolina.
