"They really worked us hard. I probably had a better camp than I did in Athens," Jones said.
That's why it's somewhat surprising that the Tide did not offer Jones today.
"Coach Pendry said he would have to talk to Coach Saban about an offer and get back with me tomorrow," Jones said. The Alabama native will not return to the Tuscaloosa camp tomorrow, he said, because the program was not going to do any more lineman drills.
"I really like Georgia," said Jones, who was clearly tired during the telephone interview. "I am leaning heavily toward them now since Bama didn't offer me today. Alabama needs to decide soon because I am going to make a decision soon."
After not offering Jones a scholarship, the Tide may be on the outside looking in.
"At first, Georgia didn't offer me the first night, either, but I am not going back to Tuscaloosa tomorrow," he said. Jones said if an offer is one the way that Bama will call him and let him know tomorrow.
Jones is considered a three-star center prospect by Scout.com. He is considered the nation's fifth-ranked center and is Alabama's seventh-rated overall prospect.
