"On Thursday (July 19), I competed at the Chris Sailer Kicking Florida Top Recruit Camp and I won the entire competition for the second year in a row," Walsh said. "I was consistently making field goals from beyond 55 yards (off the ground) and my kickoffs were averaging over 70 yards with a 4.3 hang time (off a 1" tee)."
In addition to his talents as a kicker, Walsh is trying to develop his skills as a punter.
"I have been working especially hard on my punting this summer and I was consistently hitting punts in the 4.8 second range and had my personal competition best of 5.3 second hang time," he said. "Next week I will be in Los Angeles competing at the Chris Sailer Kicking Invitational Top 12 Camp. It'll be fun kicking with the other best 11 kickers in the country. It will also be great training for my upcoming season at Gibbons."
With a busy summer so far, Walsh is also looking forward to starting preseason practice with his high school team.
"We start practice on August 6th and I think we have the potential to be really good this year and go even deeper into the state playoffs," he said. "However, we do play a really tough schedule including St. Thomas Aquinas, Glades Central, and Ely. Snce we are just a small private school, we will have our work cut out for us."
