2007 Media Days: Legge's Look at Arkansas

BIRMINGHAM – Here's a look at the day Arkansas Head Coach Houston Nutt and the Razorbacks had at the SEC's annual Media Day event. Arkansas finished first in the SEC West and played in the Capital One Bowl.

Last season: 10-4
Last game vs. Georgia: 23-20 loss (2005 season)
Series Record: Georgia leads 8-3
Most memorable Georgia win: 2002 SEC Championship game – David Greene is named the MVP, and Georgia wins its first SEC title in 20 years.
Most painful Georgia loss: 1969 Sugar Bowl – Georgia falls to Arkansas after winning the SEC title. It was the Bulldogs' only loss of the season.
Starters returning: 11

Best player: Darren McFadden
Biggest Weakness: Quarterback
2007's big question: How good are these guys going to be with any sort of quarterback? (Same question as last season)

Inside the numbers:
That's how many rushing yards per game the Hogs had per game last season – best in the SEC and fourth best in the country. Arkansas' combination of Darren McFadden and Felix Jones is the best in the nation.

SEC Media Day's quote to note:

"I think the one thing that was overshadowed was our championship run. You never pick us – and that's ok. We probably won't be picked again this season – and that's ok. It was LSU and Auburn – you guys know who you picked. That's why football is so great – you have to play it between the white lines." – Head Coach Houston Nutt about his team and the media's decision not to pick the Hogs as the SEC West winners over the years.

"He could be a real pain right now – he's on every magazine. But he goes to school every day. I get a call from a professor and he says: ‘I want to talk with you about Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. They had enough points to take a week off in the class. I told them they have a week off but they showed up.' That's what it's all about." – Nutt on McFadden and why he is so special.

"He has a great smile, and guys that have had more than one conversation with him understand that. He dressed up for Halloween. He can't go home to Little Rock and go to the mall without getting bombarded for three hours with requests." – Nutt on McFadden and how he is as a regular person.

"A clown... a big one." - McFadden on his Halloween costume.

"This was a totally different off-season than I have ever dealt with before. Everything was so personal. It kept going and going. The toughest thing was my family. The reason that you are able to go home and look your family in the eyes is because they know – they know the truth. My family, my wife, has been so strong. I think that I think if you ask Darren about me he would say: ‘If attack Coach Nutt you are attacking me.' If you ask our players how it has affected us they would say it hasn't. I do think that it's made us much closer. It's made the Razorback family closer." – Nutt on a turbulent off-season which included his cell phone records being published.
