08/22/2007 Georgia Practice Report

ATHENS - The 13th-ranked Georgia Bulldog football team held a spirited 90-minute practice Wednesday featuring various game situations.

The team focused on special teams for the first 15 minutes, working out in jerseys, shorts, shoulder pads and helmets. Then after a five-minute break, the players removed their shoulder pads and had no contact drills for the remainder of the session.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt said the team¹s practice was a dress rehearsal at three-quarters speed.

³It was a good day, and we were able to get a good look from our scout team, said Richt. ³We¹ll do it again tomorrow and a couple more times next week. It was a good education on the field. Today, we had things on a script, tomorrow, it will not be and we¹ll see how well react.²

When asked about Georgia¹s options for kickoff returners, Richt said the Bulldogs have three good candidates in sophomore Asher Allen, redshirt freshman Knowshon Moreno and senior Thomas Brown. He did not reveal if the Bulldogs would employ a one- or two-back set on kickoffs. Also, Richt said freshman quarterback Logan Gray has embraced the role of scout team quarterback.
