South Carolina Week: Monday News and Notes

ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's fall practices.

BACK ON TOP: Tight end Tripp Chandler, a junior with two career receptions, returned to his place with the first-team offense Monday more thankful for what he has. Chandler sat out Saturday's game due to a one-game suspension following an offseason arrest.

"To hear the band and see the fans, you kind of start to zone that out when you're in the game," Chandler said. "It really made me understand the blessing and the opportunity that I have."

Freshman tight end Bruce Figgins and Na Derris Ward played well, but it's a clear choice to move Chandler back into his top spot, Coach Mark Richt said.

"Those guys are just not ready to play a real consistent ball game like we think Tripp can," Richt said. "And now that they aren't playing quite as much as you can kind of pick your spots with them, it might be even better for them to have a chance to succeed."

PRACTICE REPORT: The Bulldogs worked out for just more than an hour Monday. They will return to the field this afternoon for a full pads practice.
