Tennessee Week: Tuesday News and Notes

ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1, SEC) practiced in full pads under cool, overcast conditions on Tuesday afternoon in Athens. The two-and-a-half-hour session was the No. 12-ranked Dogs' most physical workout of the week in preparation for this Saturday's game at Tennessee (2-2, 0-1 SEC).

"Today was a whole lot better than last week," head coach Mark Richt said. "The energy level was good, and just the tempo of the whole practice was real good. The scout team did a nice job. The weather may have had something to do with it, but I was very pleased with the overall effort today."

Richt conducted his weekly press conference earlier in the day where he discussed this weekend's date with the Vols at length.

"We have a great challenge this week," Richt said. "Tennessee as we all know is a great football program. They are very talented and well coached as always. This is a big game for both teams. We both need it. Both teams want to feel like they are still in the race. We are right now, but after Saturday one team's hopes will be a lot dimmer. They won't necessarily be out of it, but their hopes will be dimmer. We have a lot of respect for Tennessee. We always have. Hopefully, we will play well again this year."
