Stellar Athlete scoring from Everywhere

Israel Route does it all for a powerful Stephenson team. He has scored TD's 4 different ways this season. He has updated his top 5 and names a leader.

Israel Route has lived up to advance billing on the season. Two of his coaches said that "he might be the best overall athlete on the team," earlier this season. Those are strong words considering Stephenson has 4 players on the team with multiple Division 1 scholarships including #1 Player in the state and 5 star All American Kregg Lumpkin. "Izzy" has done his best to prove the statements of his coaches true. On the season he has scored touchdowns 4 different ways, receiving, punt return, kickoff return, and interception return.

"They're not kicking the ball to me any more," said Route with a laugh. "So my return yards are down this week. I had over 100 yards receiving against Redan last week, but most of the starters only played the 1st half. We have a big game this week coming up against Tri-Cities. They're undefeated too."

Route has exceptional quickness; he had the fastest shuttle time at one of the bigger camps this summer. His ability to do it all on the field has drawn the attention of several schools, but he is still waiting on his first offer. "Right now I like Georgia, Florida, MTSU, Marshall, and Tulane the best right now. Georgia is probably my favorite though. If they were to offer me a scholarship, that's where I would go."

Route's value comes in his versatility and work ethic. He does it all on the field for one of the best high school teams in the country, and he is a standout student in the classroom.
