The Chippewas, who are 2-3 overall and 2-0 in the MAC this year, will be a very familiar foe for two Georgia coaches. Georgia defensive coordinator Willie Martinez and linebackers coach John Jancek each coached there before coming to Georgia. Martinez served as the Chippewas defensive coordinator in 2000, and Jancek held that job in 2004.
The Bulldogs will pay a hefty price to get Central Michigan for the one-game deal. The Chippewas had agreed to a multi-game deal with Mississippi State that included a game next year, but they backed out of that deal to play Georgia.
Central Michigan athletic director Dave Heeke confirmed to the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger earlier this week that his school reneged in order to play one game against an opponent that was offering a larger monetary guarantee.
