Florida Week: Thursday Practice Report

ATHENS - The 20th-ranked Georgia football team held final preparations on Thursday for its upcoming Southeastern Conference eastern division clash with the ninth-ranked Florida Gators. The practice session, held at the Woodruff Practice Fields, lasted 90-minutes in helmets and shorts.

The Bulldogs (5-2, 3-2 SEC) will face the Gators (5-2, 3-2 SEC) in Jacksonville on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., and CBS will broadcast the game on national television.

With the University of Georgia on fall break, head coach Mark Richt said that the Bulldogs were able to get in additional preparation for the meeting with the Gators on Thursday.

"Today is kind of a different day for us because school is out, so there is no limitation on what we can do with (the team)," Richt said. "We did more than we normally do, but I don't think it was too much mostly being meetings and walk-through to make sure everybody understands exactly what the plan is. I think we had a good two weeks of preparation, and I do believe the guys are genuinely excited about this opportunity."

When asked if any injuries arose during the week, Richt noted that redshirt freshman fullback Fred Munzenmaier might not be able to make the trip to Jacksonville after injuring his back, but also indicated that senior flanker A.J. Bryant is healthy enough to return.

"We have quite a few receivers that have been working an awful lot and getting a lot of reps," Richt noted. "I don't know if A.J. will come in and take over anybody's spot, but he is healthy enough to go and he's practiced all week."
