Troy Week: Tuesday Practice Report

ATHENS - The No. 10-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (6-2, 4-2 SEC) returned to practice on Tuesday and continued to prepare for this weekend's matchup with Troy (6-2, 5-0 Sun Belt) at Sanford Stadium. The Dogs held a two-and-a-half-hour session in crisp autumn conditions following a rare off day on Monday while a large number of players took the statewide Regents Exam.

"It's a beautiful day weather wise and we had a very solid practice," head coach Mark Richt. "It did feel a little like a Monday since we didn't practice yesterday."

Georgia held its regular Monday practice on Sunday evening due to the schedule change.

Richt announced that defensive tackle Geno Atkins, linebacker Akeem Dent, tailback Knowshon Moreno and quarterback Matthew Stafford will serve as captains this week.

Richt held his weekly press conference earlier on Tuesday and talked about the challenges of facing the Trojans.

"Troy is a game you wish wasn't on your schedule to be honest," Richt said. "They are a talented team. They won their league last year, and they are well on their way to winning it this year. They are undefeated in their conference and have only lost two games, both to SEC teams. Troy has a lot of SEC caliber athletes throughout the program, and they have 25 Georgia boys on their roster.

"Coach Blakeney is a great coach," Richt continued. "He has been there 17 years and has done a great job and has won a lot of games there. They have upset a lot of BCS-type schools. They beat Missouri pretty good a year or so ago. Missouri as we all know is a top-10 team right now. I'm sure he has that team excited to come in here and try to steal one away from us."
