Auburn Week: Tuesday Practice Report

ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs (7-2, 4-2 SEC) held a two-and-a-half-hour practice on Tuesday in full pads at the Woodruff practice fields as they continued to prepare for Saturday's key conference date with Auburn (7-3, 4-2).

The Bulldogs enter the contest ranked No. 10 in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls this week, while the Tigers are No. 18 and No. 17 in the AP and coaches polls, respectively.

Earlier on Tuesday, head coach Mark Richt held his weekly press conference and luncheon and talked about the importance of the Auburn contest.

³This is a very typical Auburn team. They¹re a physical, hard-nosed bunch. They make very few mistakes. They like to pound the ball and control the clock,² said head coach Mark Richt. ³They have a very high-percentage passing game, a hard-hitting defense and great specialists. This will be just another Southeastern Conference barnburner, more than likely.²

Richt also mentioned a desire the Bulldog seniors have for Saturday¹s game.

³The seniors asked me to encourage the Bulldog Nation to wear black to Saturday¹s game,² Richt said. ³I asked them why, and they said it would be cool and a great sign of unity.²

In addition, Richt announced that senior defensive end Marcus Howard, senior placekicker Brandon Coutu, senior center Fernando Velasco and sophomore Asher Allen would be Georgia¹s captains for the team¹s 10th game of the season.
