Kentucky Week: Monday News and Notes

ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's fall practices.

UPBEAT PRACTICE: The frivolity from Saturday's win continued at Monday's practice. Bobby Towns, one of the officials who works the Bulldogs' practices, dyed his white beard black and all the officials threw black flags instead of yellow.

"Everybody is having fun from the trainers to the managers, even the officials," defensive lineman Jeff Owens said.

Richt got into the act by organizing a 40-yard dash between one of the team's walk-on offensive linemen and a trainer, lining up the offense on one hash mark and the defense on the other and running the two between them.

"It took probably right around six seconds," wide receiver Sean Bailey said.

GEORGIA TECH TIME: ABC announced Monday it will televise the Nov. 24 Georgia-Georgia Tech game at 3:30 p.m. This will be the Bulldogs first appearance on ABC this season and 66th all-time.

VELASCO HONORED: Senior center Fernando Velasco was recognized Monday as the SEC's offensive lineman of the week. Velasco helped pave the way for a 45-20 Georgia win over Auburn on Saturday in which the Bulldogs gained 417 yards. Velasco has started a team-best 23 straight games for Georgia.
