Tailback Musa Smith (broken left thumb), receiver Fred Gibson (torn ligaments in left thumb) and offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb (torn cartilage in left knee) underwent surgeries Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital.
Each had his surgery on an out-patient basis, and each procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Hancock, one of the team orthopedists.
Georgia director of sports medicine Ron Courson said Smith and Gibson had pins inserted to stabilize their thumbs, and each was fitted with a fiberglass cast.
Courson said Gibson suffered a complete rupture of the ulnar collateral ligament, which was removed.
Stinchcomb had an arthroscopic procedure to repair a partial tear of the medial meniscus cartilage in his knee. Courson said Stinchcomb was placed in a splint and will be on crutches for a few days.
"We're going to leave the return open-ended,'' Courson said. They will be evaluated on a daily basis and see how they respond.
Courson said receiver Kirby Towns will have reconstructive knee surgery today.
