Brown will start Sugar Bowl

NEW ORLEANS – Thomas Brown will start the final game of his career at the 2008 Sugar Bowl.

Brown returned to the Bulldogs near the end of the year after injuring his shoulder mid-season. By that time, however, Knowshon Moreno had replaced him as the starter, and ended the season with over 1,000 rushing yards. Moreno suffered an injured ankle during the Georgia Tech game, and was ineffective in that game. Brown picked up the slack for the injured freshman gaining more than 100 yards against the Yellow Jackets.

"Thomas is going to start the game," Mark Richt said today. "It was a combination of Thomas's performance and Knowshon's health. Knowshon will be 100% at the start of the game, but we won't know how long that will last. Thomas played well at the end of the season, and he actually has a higher yards per carry average, so we feel comfortable with it."
