2008 Sugar Bowl: Sunday Practice Report

NEW ORLEANS - The Georgia Bulldog football team conducted the first of its two dress rehearsals Sunday at the Louisiana Superdome, working out for approximately 90 minutes.

The fourth-ranked Bulldogs (10-2) had their fifth practice of the week as game night approaches for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Classic. Georgia faces 10th-ranked Hawaii (12-0) on Jan 1 at 8:30 p.m. ET. Prior to practice, Bulldog head coach Mark Richt said the team is wrapping up preparations for the contest.

"Today was like a Thursday practice, I know it's not Thursday but it's two days before our game and we did what we normally do, practice for 12 periods in shorts and try to get focused," said Richt. "They guys are getting excited, and I like their enthusiasm as you can tell with the barking going on out there. This is about our 14th or 15th practice since our last game, and everybody is getting anxious and ready to go. You can tell the city is filling up the last couple of days as people are starting to arrive for the game too."

The Bulldogs have practiced daily here since arriving on Wednesday, Dec. 26. On Monday, the Bulldogs will hold another dress rehearsal and take a team photo at the Superdome. Also, Richt will take part in his final media session before the game, a joint head coaches press conference with Hawaii's June Jones.

Georgia is riding a six-game winning streak, while Hawaii has won 13 in a row dating back to last season. Georgia's senior class is aiming to be the fifth consecutive group to claim 40 or more wins in their Bulldog career. Meanwhile, the Warriors are the only undefeated team left in the country.
