ATHENS - Forward Jeremy Price, whose 25 points helped Georgia to its first 2-victory SEC week since last January, was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, according an announcement Monday by the league office in Birmingham.
Price, a 6-8, 270-pound native of Decatur, played key roles in both of Georgia
's wins last week: 61-54 over Alabama
and 82-69 over Arkansas
. He followed his 11-point effort against the Crimson Tide with a 14-point, 5-rebound night in Georgia's win over the Razorbcaks.
A starter in seven of the Bulldogs' past eight games, Price currently averages 9.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 22.8 minutes per contest. He leads Georgia in field-goal percentage at 58.3 percent and ranks second in free-throw accuracy at 80.5 percent.
The Bulldogs will enjoy an open date in the league schedule this Wednesday before traveling to 3rd-ranked Tennessee for a Saturday night game.
