Chapel Hill High offensive lineman Taylor Johnstone is one of the top big men in the state of Georgia for the 2009 class and his recruitment is getting more diverse by the day.
The 6-foot-5 and 280-pounder has yet to receive an official scholarship offer but more and more schools are showing interest.
"The offensive line coach from Clemson (Brad Scott) recently came by," Johnstone told GAVSV.com. "I have also heard from a coach from Florida. Georgia Tech has been by and I have heard from Georgia and Alabama."
The interest from the Crimson Tide has been mutual as Johnstone recently took a trip to Alabama for the program's Junior Day.
Needless to say, he came away impressed.
"I liked it a lot," Johnstone said. "It is a really nice campus and the facilities are great. Coach (Nick) Saban really impressed me. I enjoyed the way he handled himself around me. He gave me his undivided attention and really made me feel welcome there. I liked that."
Johnstone's trip to Alabama will likely be followed by one to Athens to check out the Bulldogs.
He took a trip to Georgia last year and enjoyed the visit and is now looking forward to seeing the things he missed while there last time.
"I want to see the locker room and check out the facilities this time," Johnstone said.
In keeping with the SEC theme, the Chapel Hill standout plans on heading south to Gainesville, Fla. to visit the Gators sometime this spring. He will also head to Orlando and take a look at what Central Florida has to offer.
"I like all these schools," Johnstone said. "I am interested in any school as much as the other. I am interested in any school that will give me a shot to play for them."
