Willie Cooper says that recruiting is "slowing down a little bit." But make no mistake, colleges have not forgotten about this blue chipper. Instead, Cooper says the recruiting has slowed "because the colleges are busy, and my high school team is too."
Cooper explained that he will not be influenced on the outcome if the Georgia-Florida game this weekend. And while he might not be interested in the outcome of the Cocktail party, Georgia is certainly interested in him.
Georgia's Mike Bobo is recruiting Cooper for the Dawgs and Cooper said that Bobo was "fun to talk with." But it appears that Bobo and Georgia will have to steal Cooper away from two sunshine state powers in Florida State and Miami. "Florida State and Miami have evened out (as my leaders) because I like of their defenses," said Cooper of the traditional southern powers. Florida State was Cooper's former exclusive favorite.
During the interview Cooper talked about how he loved his position of safety. In fact, Cooper thinks of the safety position as the leader of the defense; he called it the quarterback, a position that Cooper currently plays too, of the defense.
"I love safety, you are the leader of the defense. Its just you against the offense; also, playing quarterback gives me an advantage over most other defenders. I can play with the opposing quarterback by fooling with coverages."
Cooper is not a prima Donna; he said that he was only concerned about early playing time that he has earned, not time that is promised to him during the recruiting process.
"Playing immediately does not matter to me. I want to earn the starting position one play at a time. If I go in with hard work I feel like I can do that."
